Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum to be Held in Moscow



On 3 October 2019, at the Russian Energy Week in Moscow, the 21st ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will be held. The event will be preceded by a meeting of the GECF Executive Council. 

The annual ministerial meeting is the supreme body of the GECF. At the meeting ministers decide on the overall policy of the organization moving forward and discuss the key issues facing the industry. Ministers of 12 GECF member countries and 7 observer countries are invited to the meeting.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum is an association of countries that are global leaders in terms of natural gas reserves and exports. For GECF member countries the Forum is a tool to ensure the reliability and security of supply and demand for gas and other energy resources. Russia attaches great importance to the work of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which was established to enable leading gas producers could coordinate their efforts. “It has become a tradition to hold GECF events at Russian Energy Week. REW played host to a panel session of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum last year, and the 19th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in 2017, which attests to the high status of the Forum around the world. This year we hope to gather for some intensive discussions with gas exporting countries and outline ways to drive the further development of the gas industry,” said Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

Since January 2018, the Official Secretary of the Forum has been Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Yury Sentyurin, who was appointed during the 19th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in 2017.
